A Gainesville man is accused of pulling a gun on Myrtle Street homeowner, taking cash and slashing the victim’s tires, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Keith Murphy, 28, faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and criminal trespass for an Oct. 20 incident on Myrtle Street.

Murphy visited Brittanie Holland around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in Gainesville. The Gainesville man then allegedly pulled out a handgun and snatched cash and a cellphone, Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said.

“Murphy fled the residence but before leaving did damage the victim’s vehicle by cutting her tires and scratching the vehicle’s paint,” Bailes wrote in an email.

Citing an ongoing investigation, Bailes did not disclose the amount of money taken.

The Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant Oct. 21. Deputies found Murphy on Branch Street on Thursday.

“During the course of executing the arrest warrant, deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine on Murphy,” Bailes wrote.

Murphy also faces charges of possession of a gun in the commission of a crime and possession of methamphetamine. He is being held without bond at the Hall County Jail.

In November 2014, Murphy was charged with aggravated assault for an incident on Branch Street by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said they believed Murphy shot his live-in girlfriend, with the bullet grazing her forehead. The injuries were not life-threatening.
