A Gainesville man allegedly ran over another man twice with a van, according to authorities.

Jonathan Michael Holtz, 45, is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He was taken into custody on Feb. 4.

Holtz is accused of assaulting Stephen Hill by “running him over with a vehicle twice,” according to the warrants.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said the incident allegedly occurred Jan. 13 in the 3400 block of Lakeland Road in Gainesville.

Bailes said the two men argued before Holtz allegedly struck Hill with a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van twice.

“Hill was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he underwent numerous surgeries as a result of his injuries received from being struck by the vehicle,” Bailes wrote in an email.

According to the warrants, Hill suffered a broken hip, broken femur, a compound fracture on his lower leg and a broken ankle.

Bailes said the two men were known acquaintances, but she was not familiar with the connection. She also said she was unfamiliar with the reason behind the argument.

Holtz is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond and is set to have a committal hearing Feb. 22.
