A registered sex offender living in Murraryville was accused of having a video of a “juvenile being sexually assaulted by an adult” on electronic devices in his home, according to authorities.

Department of Community Supervision personnel in Gainesville searched the home of Phillip Garvis Chadwick, 59, Monday, July 22.

“DCS seized electronic devices from the residence during the search. Upon examination of the devices, DCS discovered video of a juvenile being sexually assaulted by an adult,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in a news release.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry, Chadwick was convicted in February 1985 of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The community supervision department notified the sheriff’s office’s investigators, who secured a warrant for sexual exploitation of a child.

Chadwick was arrested Tuesday at his workplace. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains without a bond.

Chadwick’s attorney Andy Maddox declined to comment Wednesday.
