If you’ve been wondering about something in your community, Ask The Times is your place to get answers. The following question was submitted by a reader and answered through the efforts of our news staff.

Is the new Boling Bridge going to be two or four lanes?

“Boiling Bridge will still be two lanes,” Georgia Department of Transportation district spokeswoman Katie Strickland wrote in an email. “However, the way this bridge is being constructed beside the current one will allow for future widening, which is not currently a planned project.”

Strickland said current work on the new bridge includes building of support structures and laying stones known as riprap for drainage.

The Boling Bridge project, which has had periodic single-lane closures to accommodate work, is 35 percent complete, Strickland said.

The bridge is on Ga. 53 at the Hall-Forsyth county line.

Work began in June 2016 and is scheduled for a March 2019 completion. The project includes demolishing the old bridge once the new bridge is complete.

Scott Bridge Co. of Opelika, Ala., is the contractor.
