The State Bar of Georgia is offering free legal advice to local low-income families on Friday.
Dozens of lawyers across the state have volunteered to give consultations in consumer law, wills and powers of attorney and family law. In Gainesville, people interested in making an appointment at an attorney’s office can contact 404-527-8762, 800-334-6865 or email email@example.com. The service also is offered in Union County, and residents there can use the same contact information to make an appointment with an attorney there.
The General Practice and Trial Law Section has partnered with the Georgia Legal Services Program and the State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Project to host the Ask a Lawyer Day event, which in some cities will be set up like a clinic.
“With such talented attorneys located across the state, it is our duty to give back to our communities, and we can do so by helping serve those who are unable to afford the legal services that so many of our members can provide,” said Laura Austin, a Cherokee County attorney who is leading the effort.
