Arson damaged a vacant house Wednesday evening at Winder and Atlanta highways in Oakwood, Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 6:15 p.m. They found smoke showing from a 1,000-square-foot house and put the blaze out shortly thereafter. The house had no power. Cagle said he couldn’t put an estimate on the damage.

The house, across from the Chick-fil-A, was going to be bulldozed because of the widening of Winder Highway, Cagle said.

"We don’t know of a dollar value, but it was a set fire," Cagle said. "If anybody saw anybody coming from the house, they’re encouraged to call the Hall County fire marshal’s office."
