Thanks to an anonymous donation, 20 cats are up for adoption this month at no charge at the Hall County Animal Shelter.

The free adoptions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until the end of September.

"We take in as many as 60 or 70  stray cats some days, so this incentive for free adoptions is exactly what we need to find forever homes for these animals," Hall County Animal Shelter Director Mike Ledford said in a news release from Hall County.

The fee is typically $85, which includes medical tests and vaccinations, deworming, microchipping and spaying or neutering.

“An adoption application will still be required so that we can make sure we're providing these pets with the appropriate care needed in order to have the best possible outcome for both the cat and the potential pet parent," Ledford said.
