Six Gainesville teenagers have been charged with attempted burglary.

The teens, all boys ranging in age from 14 to 16, are accused of trying to break into a home in the 900 block of James Street Friday.

A neighbor spotted the act and called 911, said Officer Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department.

The witness was able to provide vehicle and clothing descriptions to the 911 dispatcher, who then relayed the information to patrol officers, he said.

At one point, the neighbor went outside and the teens ran away.

An officer on patrol spotted the vehicle and suspects at a business on Jesse Jewell Parkway. Officers were then able to quickly arrest the teens, Holbrook said.

The 911 call was at 2:30 p.m. The arrest took place shortly afterward.

At the home of the attempted burglary, "there was damage to the door and door frame," Holbrook said.

The suspects' names have been withheld because of their age.

The teens were released to their parents.
