5 places students in need can still get school supplies

School starts back Aug. 7 in Hall County and Aug. 8 in Gainesville. Families who need backpacks and school supplies for their children have a variety of options.

Gainesville Middle School resource fair

Supplies will be available for students and families at this resource fair, which brings multiple agencies, churches and other community groups together.

When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 3

St. Michael Catholic giveaway for special needs students

The Hispanic Alliance GA and St. Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville will host a backpack and school supply giveaway specifically for special needs students and their families. Free haircuts are also available.

When: Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4

L.A.M.P. Ministries back-to-school event

Free backpacks and school supplies will be available; children must be present to receive supplies.

When: Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4

Ventures United Solutions supply giveaway and kids event

Along with local nonprofit P.U.S.H., Ventures United Solutions is hosting a back-to-school community event with free supplies available for students. The event will also include raffle prizes, food vendors, kids games and bouncy houses, along with the local firefighters and police officers on hand.

Lyman Hall school supply drive

The annual event provides free school supplies just before school begins.
