50 jobs to be cut as Cargill closes part of Gainesville operations

Ventura Foods has acquired the Dressings, Sauces and Mayonnaise business of Cargill. According to a press release, the assets of the Dressings, Sauces and Mayonnaise business from Gainesville will be relocated to Ventura Foods’ facilities in Chambersburg, Pa., and Fort Worth, Texas.
Some 50 jobs at Cargill’s Gainesville plant will be phased out over 15-18 months as ownership in the company’s Dressings, Sauces and Mayonnaise business moves to another company, Cargill announced this week. The move is part of an sale agreement between Minneapolis-based Cargill and Ventura Foods, which is based in Brea, Calif. “Cargill’s DSM assets from Sidney (Ohio) and Gainesville will be relocated to Ventura Foods’ facilities in Chambersburg, Pa., and Fort Worth, Texas,” states a Cargill press release.
