Narcotic agents arrested three people on methamphetamine trafficking charges Tuesday, alleging a quantity of $11,400 worth of the drug was discovered after a traffic stop.
Joshua Aaron Barnes, 21, of Flowery Branch is charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
Jay Andrew Hutchins, 20, of Dawsonville is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Paola Guadalupe Garcia, 27, of Gainesville is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, misdemeanor obstruction and was placed on an immigration hold.
Upon investigating a traffic stop made by a Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputy on patrol, agents from the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad investigated and discovered the large quantity of meth, a small amount of marijuana and one semi-automatic pistol, according to a news release.
The three accused had first appearance in Hall County Magistrate Court on Tuesday. None are eligible for bond unless set by a Superior Court judge because of the trafficking charge.
Hutchins requested indigent defense, and is forgoing a committal hearing.
Joshua Barnes also requested representation from the public defender’s office, and a committal hearing, which has been set for Aug. 1.
Garcia also requested a committal hearing, set for Aug. 1, and did not request a court-appointed attorney.
All three suspects are being held at the Hall County Jail.
