Gainesville Police Department has charged three people in connection with air conditioning thefts at businesses and vacant homes mostly in the Thompson Bridge Road area.

“The subjects were dismantling air conditioning units for copper and metal. The subjects would then take the copper and metal to scrap yards for cash,” officer Kevin Holbrook said in a news release.

Constance Diane Cantrell, 33, of Gainesville was charged with criminal damage to property second degree, theft by taking and criminal trespass. Jessica Nellie Jones, 31, of Gainesville was charged with theft by deception. Delany Eugene Van Dyke, 39, of Oakwood was charged with criminal damage to property second degree and theft by taking.

Holbrook said anyone who believes they have been the victim of such a crime is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-535-5630.
