19th rabies case of 2009 is confirmed

Authorities have confirmed in North Hall 2009’s 19th positive rabies case.

On Dec. 30, a skunk came in contact with two calves in the Elmer Truelove Road area.

The skunk was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur.

On Dec. 31, Hall County Animal Services was advised that the skunk was positive for rabies. Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid skunk was located.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their pets and livestock for rabies.
