A 17-year-old bicyclist died Tuesday night after being thrown from his bicycle in a collision the evening before, Georgia State Patrol said.

Nanya Williams died after 9 p.m. Tuesday from the injuries sustained in a collision at the Gainesville intersection of Wildwood Lane and Wildwood Drive.

“(Williams) was coming down a steep hill on Wildwood Lane approaching the intersection of Wildwood Lane and Wildwood Drive,” GSP Sgt. Anthony Coleman said.

GSP officials said Williams failed to yield.

Williams collided with a BMW being driven by a 16-year-old girl. Williams was separated from the bike and “thrown onto the hood and windshield of the BMW.”

Williams was transported with serious injuries and was in critical condition Tuesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

The 16-year-old driver of the BMW was not injured.
