A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash after his truck crossed the center line into oncoming traffic Thursday on Cleveland Highway.

James Allen Maye died in the 12:40 p.m. accident on U.S. 129 less than a mile north of the post headquarters, Georgia State Patrol officials said. Maye’s age and hometown were not immediately available.

The patrol said Maye was northbound when his truck crossed over into the southbound lane, striking an oncoming truck.

Maye’s truck overturned on the west shoulder of the road, ejecting him. He died at the scene.

The driver of the other truck, which rolled down a bluff on the east shoulder of the road, was not injured.

U.S. 129 near the accident scene was shut down for a brief time following the crash, with traffic re-routed along Parker Road.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
