A man suspected of robbing a woman in the parking lot of the U.S. Post Office on Limestone Parkway Thursday afternoon has been arrested, Gainesville police said.

Jeremy David Smith, 21, was charged with armed robbery, Gainesville Police Sgt. Johnny Ray said. A lookout had been posted for Smith, he said.

Police said that at about 12:45 p.m. a man approached a woman in the parking lot of the post office at 2490 Limestone Parkway and showed her what appeared to be a handgun, demanding money.

The woman turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber fled in a 1980s model black Chevrolet Camaro.

The robbery victim was not injured.

The robber was described as a white male with blonde hair, wearing a blue, striped shirt and jeans.
