A burglar was caught stealing $11,000 worth of electronics from McEver Elementary School early this morning, sheriff’s officials said.

Hall County Sheriff’s Col. Jeff Strickland said deputies were dispatched to a burglar alarm at the Montgomery Drive school shortly after midnight. Deputies saw a suspicious car and surrounded the school before spotting a flashlight shining inside the building.

Minutes later, two men ran from the school toward a wooded area. One of the suspects was caught, and deputies found laptop computers, televisions, a videocassette recorder and portable radios stacked up near a doorway.

Ricardo Estrella, 35, of Gainesville, was charged with burglary, interference with government property, obstruction and violation of probation.

Investigators continue to look for a second suspect, Strickland said.
