Anna Kathryn Smith and John Michael Williams were united in marriage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Donald and Garnett Smith of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Barney and Donna Williams of Flowery Branch.The Rev. Dr. William L. Coates Jr. performed the ceremony. Pianist Brent Cochran, vocalist Jennifer Sutton and organist Della Ruth Johnson presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sisters Natalie S. McGarvey and Fran S. McCain of Gainesville were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins Haley Corry, Julie Oliver and Ginny Puckett, all of Gainesville, the bride’s friends Jessica Beckum, Natalie Boatright and Autumn Hudgins, all of Gainesville, Kristina Burrell of Cornelia, Jenny Hudgins of Norcross, Candace Lockett of Grayson, and Mandy Vance and Keisha Wilkey, both of Cartersville. The groom’s niece Maddie Compton of Flowery Branch was the flower girl.

The groom’s father and brother B.J. Williams were the best men. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers-in-law John McGarvey and Justin McCain, both of Gainesville; the groom’s cousins Westin Goodrum of Winder and Brandon Haney of Mobile, Ala.; the groom’s friends Jamie Ellwanger and Josh McNeal, both of Buford, Dalan Nalley and Blake Wayne, both of Oakwood, and Shea Whitmire, Jason Whitworth and Josh Wilson, all of Gainesville.

The bride wore her mother’s garter, a bracelet that was a gift from the groom and broaches that belonged to her grandmothers.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Elks Lodge in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at the Smithgall Arts Center in Gainesville following the ceremony. Christopher Davidson was the wedding coordinator. The wedding program cover was designed by the bride’s grandmother. Arielle Ventura presented a special reading.

Following a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Gainesville.
