Connor and Amanda Volpe

Amanda Frances Sheppard and Conner Ryan Volpe were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 2011, at Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta. The bride is the daughter of James Randall Sheppard and Patricia Martin Sheppard of Oakwood. The groom is the son of Thomas Volpe and Jenny Parks Volpe of Kennesaw.

The Rev. Brad Horton performed the ceremony. Harpist Catherine Rogers presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's sister Katie Sheppard of Albany was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister Jenny Sheppard of Valdosta, groom's sister Melissa Volpe of Athens, bride's sorority sister Katy Clark of Boston, Mass., and bride's friends Kerri Lee Botha of Alpharetta and Erin Fahey of Atlanta. The bride's cousin Lily Payne of Hoschton was the flower girl.

The groom's friend Oliver Gil of Kennesaw was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's father Thomas Volpe of Kennesaw and friends Chad Christensen of New York, N.Y., Andrew Rea of Smyrna, David Haithcock of Augusta and Heath Northam of Buford.

The bride's friend Caleb Lee of Lawrenceville was the ring bearer. Ushers were bride's brother Robbie Sheppard, groom's friends Matt Harrison, Patrick Traylor and groom's cousin Cole Gober.

Connie Abar, Elaine Childs and Jamie Kendall-Evans kept the bride's book.

The bride carried a 27-year-old handkerchief and sixpence from her parents' wedding and the groom carried a handkerchief that belonged to his grandfather.

The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Figo in Atlanta on the eve of the wedding.

Following a honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple reside in Smyrna.
