Kathryn Carter Norton and Robert Lewis Nixon Wren were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Jan. 5, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Kathryn Owen Norton of Gainesville and Robert Verson Norton Sr. of Gainesville. She is the granddaughter of David and Diane Owen of Gainesville and Frank and Betty Norton of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Mischelle Wren Forrester of Gainesville and the grandson of Joann Wren of Thomson and the late Bobby Nixon Wren.
The Rev. Terry Walton performed the ceremony. Soloist Caroline Coleman presented a program of wedding music.
The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride’s sister Maggie Norton of Gainesville was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Wendy Watson of Gainesville, Andrea David of Birmingham, Ala., Emily Hood of Marietta, Logan Dowell of Birmingham, Ala., and Mandy Heard of Birmingham, Ala. The bride’s sister Eliza Norton of Gainesville was the flower girl.
The groom’s friend Martin Merritt of Atlanta was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers A.J. Forrester of Thomson and Matthew Wren of Thomson, the groom’s friends George Nalley of Atlanta and Tipton Sholes of Macon, and the bride’s brother Robert Norton Jr. of Dallas, Texas. Honorary groomsmen were Mark Owen of Gainesville and Frank Norton Jr. of Gainesville. The bride’s brother Jacob Norton of Gainesville was the ring bearer. Ushers were C.T. Hussion of Hiawassee and Torri Wren of Gainesville.
The bride carried a handkerchief which was her infant christening cap and wore her mother’s pearl bracelet and a sixpence in her shoe which was a gift from her maternal grandmother, Diane Owen.
A rehearsal dinner was given by Larry and Marie Merritt at Lunas in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at Smithgall Arts Center in Gainesville following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to Negril, Jamaica, the couple reside in Nashville, Tenn.
