Ms. Emily Craig Hortenstine and Dr. Matthew Todd McDowell were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 29, 2013, at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park in Atlanta. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jay Hortenstine of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David McDowell of Lilburn.
The Rev. Kathy McDowell performed the ceremony.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s friend Ms. Ashley Baker of Palo Alto, Calif., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Ms. Kristi Nichols of Augusta, Mrs. Elizabeth Hermann of Atlanta, Ms. Caroline Bell of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. Megan Horton of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mrs. Amanda Greavu of Athens.
The groom’s brothers Mr. James McDowell of Lilburn and Mr. Andrew McDowell of Clemson, S.C., both served as best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s friends Mr. Michael Seelhorst of Berkeley, Calif., Mr. Allen Dreschel of Berkeley, Calif., Mr. Ben Leathers of Santa Monica, Calif., Mr. Taylor Owens of Atlanta, Mr. Vinesh Narayan of San Francisco, Calif., and Dr. Zach Beiley of San Francisco, Calif., and the bride’s brothers Mr. Jack Hortenstine of Rome, Mr. Charlie Hortenstine of Rome, and Mr. Daniel Hortenstine of Carrollton.

The bride wore the wedding ring of her maternal great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Bertie Carmichael.
The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at Einstein’s in Atlanta on the eve of the wedding.
The bride’s parents gave a reception at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park in Atlanta following the ceremony.
Following a honeymoon to Iceland, the couple reside in Pasadena, Calif.
