Nairika Kotwal Cornett took home the mirror ball trophy at this year’s Dancing for a Cause at the Chattahoochee Country Club Saturday, Aug. 24.

The fundraiser benefiting Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response raised $308,000 this year — up $98,000 from last year.

Cornett, who was recently named the new executive director of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, had a combination of most money raised and best scores from the judges.

Jennifer Pirkle won the community star for the best dance score of the night.

Other locals who were part of the dance competition included Michael Reins, John Darden, Tim Hepburn, Scott LeFevre, Rena Millwood, Beverly Nordholz, Brad Puryear and Tyra Wimpye.
