Graduating cadets at North Georgia College & State University recently were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

North Georgia is one of only six senior military colleges in the nation. Participation in the Corps of Cadets, also known as the Boar’s Head Brigade, offers the opportunity to acquire a degree in a chosen field of study while simultaneously earning an officer’s commission in the U.S. Army, either active, guard or reserve.

The following local residents who received commissions and their branch of service included:

Alexander J. Walken, Dahlonega, military intelligence

Erika Jazmin Rosales, Dahlonega, nurse corps

Patrick R. Carver, Dahlonega, ammunition

Dusty D. Chastain, Toccoa, transportation corps

Caitlyn N. French, Buford, military police
