Air Force Airman Codi L. Powers graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The eight-week program included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

He is the son of Terrie Powers and grandson of Jimmy McCauley, both of Gainesville.

Powers is a 2007 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville.


Andrew P. Kelley graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.

The primary focus of the training is to develop and evaluate each cadet’s officer potential. Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the leadership development course and upon completion of the course, the ROTC program and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard or Reserve.

Kelley is a student at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. He is the son of Lance G. and Meg I. Kelley of Gainesville and is a 2005 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville.
