UNG debate team earn 11 accolades at competition

The University of North Georgia Debate Team won second place at the King Classic Debate Tournament on Oct. 10-11 at Morehouse College. It was the highest finish UNG has ever achieved at the King Classic.

The university also took home 10 other awards from the competition. Sophomore Fernando Gonzalez of Flowery Branch was recognized as a quarterfinalist varsity debate team and sixth-place varsity debate speaker. Freshman Cristian Ramos of Gainesville was recognized as a semifinalist varsity debate team and eighth-place varsity debate speaker. Sophomore Tyler Williams of Flowery Branch was recognized as a semifinalist varsity debate team and fourth-place varsity debate speaker.

C. Thomas Preston Jr. is the team’s coach and sponsor of the team’s Pi Kappa Delta Chapter for both campuses.
