Evan Carter attended Georgia Southern University's Scholars' Day in Statesboro. To be invited to the event students must score a minimum of 1,200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT and have a strong academic average in high school courses. At the event students have the opportunity to meet leaders at the school and interview for academic scholarships.

The Chestatee Middle School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America attended the 2008 State Leadership Conference in Macon. Students Breanna Massey, Taylor Lewis, Shelby Ventura, Destiny Motes and adviser Wanda Land attended the conference and participated in leadership sessions and competitive events. Ventura and Motes placed first in Computer Slideshow, and Ventura also placed fifth in Public Speaking. The Chestatee Middle School chapter also contributed $195 to the March of Dimes, FBLA's state community service project.
