Second-graders at Sugar Hill Elementary School recently got a lesson in bike safety when Safe Kids Gainesville/Hall County came to talk about bike safety. All the kids were given bike helmets as part of the visit.

Students in Chestatee High School recently competed in the Georgia Student Career Association’s regional competition. Fourteen earned placings to move on to the state competition held on Jekyll Island in April. Contests range from automotive service to nail design. The following students placed in the competition: Mercedes Brackett, fifth place, creative problem solving; Megan Coulter, second place, nail design; Jessica Baldwin, third place, floral design; Natasha Benbow, third place, hair design; Avigail Amaya, second place, job interview; Karina Yanez, second place, interior design; Sarai Castaneda, second place, child care development; Cary Tran, first place, automotive service; TJ Delong, fifth place, creative problem solving; Ryan Griffin, third place, math concepts; Chad Stevens, first place, communication skills; Manny Maldonado, second place, prepared speech; Zack Buffington, second place, construction technology; Justin Cohen, second place, natural resources; Miguel Bonilla, first place, Power Point; Tiffany Franklin, fifth place, creative problem solving; Cody Biddy, first place, extemporaneous speaking.
