North Hall sophomore Katie Dionne won first place in the senior division of the individual performance state championship April 26 at National History Day at Mercer University in Macon. Dionne won the prize for her performance “Sowing the Seeds of Sustainability: Wangari Maathai and Kenya’s Greenbelt Movement.” She also competed in the national competition at the University of Maryland-College Park, winning the National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship, which funds a study-abroad trip to China this summer.
