Anne Hulsey Cain, left, was once named a "beauty" by the North Hall High School yearbook. Later her daughter Dana Cain Farr, middle, was named a beauty. Now Cain's other daughter, D'Anna Cain, was also named a beauty.

Leland Taylor has been named the recipient of the 2008 Tommy Aaron/Charlie Aaron scholarship. Leland is a graduate of North Hall High School and plans to study medicine at Davidson College in Charlotte, N.C.

The following Scouts have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout:

  • Ryan Bozarth, member of Troop 221 in Gainesville and son of Darrel and Sandy Bozarth, cleared brush, tree stumps and did general weeding and on the south side of the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakwood.
  • Andrew Boggs, member of Troop 203 in Gainesville and son of Anthony and Jamie Boggs, built two outdoor classrooms, cleared the trail to the classrooms and installed gate entrances to the trails for the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Gainesville.
  • Adam Welch, member of Troop 16 in Gainesville and son of Doug and Gretchen Welch, built a pavilion for Sonrise Camp, a nondenominational facility in Hall County.
  • Bart Mann, member of Troop 221 in Oakwood and son of Marty and Diane Mann, added drainage pipes, play equipment and benches to a pre-school playground at West Hall Baptist Church in Oakwood.

Matthew Wilbanks, a University of Georgia student and Gainesville native, is among 29 college students and recent graduates chosen to participate in the Governor's Intern Program for the summer of 2008. Wilbanks is working as an intern for the Office of Planning and Budget. He pursuing a graduate degree in public administration.

The two daughters of Gainesville resident Anne Hulsey Cain have followed in their mother's footsteps, with each woman appearing in North Hall High School yearbook's "Beauty" section. Each year students submit photos for the "Beau" and "Beauty" contest, which are judged outside of the school and announced in each year's yearbook. Cain was named a Beauty in 1971. Her daughter Dana Cain Farr, a teacher at East Hall High School, was named a Beauty in 1989. This year, Cain's other daughter, D'Anna Cain, was also named a beauty. D'Anna will pursue a degree in nursing in the fall at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.
