More than 200 area students participated in the 34th annual North Gainesville Music Festival held recently at Brenau University. The highest honor for superior ratings went to Allison Chetta, daughter of Marc and Helen Chetta of Clarkesville. She was also awarded a special certificate for eleven consecutive years of piano solos. Ben Hefner has obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Hefner is a member of Boy Scout troop 16 in Gainesville, and he is the son of Beth and Brian Hefner. For his project, he built a 16-foot bridge for the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club and did maintenance on their running trail.

Nathan Turner has obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Turner is a member of Boy Scout troop 215 in Gainesville, and he is the son of Joseph B. and SaraEllen Turner. For his project he designed and supervised the construction of a Patriot Park for West Hall Middle School.

Reesa Dawkins was recently honored for her support of the American Red Cross. Dawkins received a certificate for her 100th donation and one for her support of the American Red Cross.
