Gainesville DAR awards Civil Air Patrol cadet with a medal
Cadet Senior Master Sgt. Austin Auger, center, of the Civil Air Patrol in Gainesville was awarded the Outstanding Cadet Medal by Daughters of the American Revolution. The medal is awarded to a cadet who has distinguished himself through leadership, honor, service, courage and patriotism. Gainesville DAR National Defense Chairwoman Connie Tucker, right, awarded the medal to Auger for his work with the Wreaths Across America service at the Alta Vista ceremony in December 2013. This is the first award to be presented to a member of the Civil Air Patrol nationally.
