Lake Lanier Olympic Park is welcoming back Food Truck Fridays this week.
The first event will take place from 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 12. People of all ages are invited to kick back, listen to live music from the local Dave Anderson Band and indulge in an array of tasty food.
Eric Larsen, special events manager at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, said holding this event in its regular season is something that will help bring a sense of normalcy back to the community. Last year, the event’s March start-date was delayed because of the pandemic.
“This has become a staple for some people, and for those that are ready, we’re happy to have them,” Larsen said.
The special events manager added that the park keeps a wide variety of vendors for the Food Truck Fridays with plenty of menu options. Some of this month’s lineup includes: Downtown Drafts and Tap It Growlers, providing alcoholic beverages for those 21 and older; All Around The World, featuring a mix of food from around the globe; Juke N Jive Creamery, serving ice cream from Braselton; Sherry’s Bait & Barbecue, a local vendor making barbecue favorites; and Let’s Taco Bout It, a taco-centric food truck.
Local businesses and nonprofits such as Watkins Total Healthcare, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier will set up booths with information.
This year, attendees can reserve tables for $35 to sit down and enjoy their meals while looking out over the lake. Spots must be reserved online before 2 p.m. Friday, March 12 via lakelanierolympicvenue.org.
Misha Atanasova, owner of All Around the World, said she enjoyed being a part of the event last year, and is pleased to attend again this month.
“The park is amazing, the musicians are always entertaining, and just the people at Gainesville are extremely welcoming and kind,” Atanasova said. “Vendors like us are always looking for opportunities like Food Truck Fridays to meet new people and serve their needs. After all, what makes us happy is bringing joy into our customers lives.”
The truck will be serving Mediterranean style food with other staple items like burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fries, Italian paninis, French crepes and Turkish shawarma. Atanasova said the event is a perfect way to unwind by eating and drinking with family among the lake’s beautiful scenery.
COVID-19 precautions will be taken at Food Truck Fridays with sanitation stations around the park and markers placed in ordering lines to promote social distancing. Mask wearing is encouraged. For more information, visit lakelanierolympicvenue.org.
