Rod and Kathy Whitmire of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Elizabeth Ann Whitmire to Brian Lee Looper, son of Dan and Debra Looper of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Hubert and Carolyn Floyd and the late Dan and Pauline Whitmire.

She is a 2004 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2009 from Gainesville State College in Oakwood with a bachelor's degree in early childhood care and education.

The groom-elect is the grandson of David and Marthaline Looper and James Baker, all of Gainesville and the late Johnny Baker.

He is a 2004 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in art education at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega.

The couple plan to wed Sept. 5, 2009, at South Bend United Methodist Church in Gainesville.
