John and Nancy Vance of Buford announce the engagement of their daughter Robin Alison Vance to Brian Lawrence Adams, son of Ron Adams of South Padre Island, Texas, and Bob and Marilyn Young of Dawsonville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lillian Heald of Gainesville, the late Frank G. Heald and the late Gray Epps and Kathleen Vance. She is a 1995 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 1999 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in consumer economics. She received a master's degree at the University of Georgia in education. She is employed as a business education teacher at Buford High School in Buford.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Bob and Chris Prendergrast of Houston and the late Paul and Ruth Klingele.

He is a 1992 graduate of Roswell High School in Roswell. He is the owner of Precision Forestry and Landscape Clearing in Roswell.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 24, 2009, at Lost Tree Chapel in North Palm Beach, Fla.
