Clarence and Shirley Odom of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Charissa Kay Steele to Jacob Paul Pardue, son of DeLinda McCall of Cornelia and Mark Pardue of Cleveland.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Cecil and Bonnie Edge of Gainesville.

She is a 1998 graduate of Johnson High School in Gainesville. She attended North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega. She is employed with United Community Bank in Clarkesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Welton Pardue of Cleveland, Sue McDonald of Springfield, Maine, and Jackie and Janice Humphries of Cleveland.

He is a 2002 graduate of Habersham Central High School in Mount Airy.

The couple plans to wed Sept. 19, 2008, at sunset on Smathers Beach in Key West, Fla.
