Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Stanley of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Marsha Ann Stanley to Mr. Joseph Milton Piper, son of Dr. and Mrs. William Piper of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lucille Miller Sargent of Gainesville, the late Mr. William Taft Sargent Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Clyde Stanley.

She is a 1992 graduate of Maranatha Christian Academy in Oakwood. She graduated in 1995 from Gainesville College in Oakwood with an associate degree in business administration. She received a bachelor’s degree at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega  in business administration in 1999. She is employed as an area manager and group vice president with SunTrust Banks in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Milton Scroggs and the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar William Piper.
He is a 1991 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. He graduated in 1995 from Piedmont College in Demorest with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He received a master’s degree at Georgia State University in business administration in 1999. He is a senior financial analyst.

The couple plan to wed Nov. 7, 2009, in Gainesville.
