Vickie Mitchum and Stanley and Kelly Smith, all of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Kimberley Lauren Smith to Joel William Ayers, son of David and Trudy Ayers of Mount Airy.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ruby Smith of Gainesville, the late Chester Smith and Betty Murray of Cornelia.

She is a 1998 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2002 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in English. She is employed by Community Bank and Trust in Cleveland.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Doris Garrett of Cumming, the late Roy Garrett, and Will and Mary Ayers of Mount Airy.

He is a 1997 graduate of Stephens County High School in Toccoa. He graduated in 2000 from North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville with an associate degree in computer information systems. He is employed by Habersham Electric Membership Corp. in Cleveland.

The couple plan to wed June 25, 2011, at Carnes Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa.
