Jack and Ann Shuler of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Ellen Katherine Shuler to Thomas Mitchell Herron, son of Bob and Judy Herron of Columbus, Miss.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Juanita and the late Willliam Adams of Gainesville, and Fred and Joyce Stevens of Braselton.

She is a 2003 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2008 from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a bachelor's degree in radiologic science. She is employed as a radiation therapist at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Keyserling Cancer Center in Port Royal, S.C.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Tom and Beatrice Evans of Columbus, Miss., and the late R.C. and Ottley Will Herron of Columbus, Miss.

He is a 1992 graduate of S.D. Lee High School in Columbus, Miss. He graduated in 1998 from Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree in fitness management. He is employed as a southeast regional manager by Continental Mixers in Greensboro, N.C.

The couple plan to wed April 14, 2012, at R Ranch in Dahlonega.
