Mr. Bruce Franklin Parker and Mrs. Carolyn Shore Parker of Augusta announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Lauren Alexis Parker to Mr. David Benton Purvis, son of Dr. Albert C. Purvis and Mrs. Virginia Brake Purvis of Dacula.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Sgt. Maj. Donald A. Shore and Mrs. Kyoko Shore of Augusta, and the late Mr. Charles Richard Parker Sr. and Mrs. Margaret Moody Parker of Augusta.

She is a 2001 graduate of Lakeside High School in Evans. She graduated in 2006 from University of Georgia with bachelor’s degrees in English and journalism. She received a Juris Doctorate degree at Georgia State University College of Law in 2009. She is employed as an Assistant Solicitor General at the Hall County Solicitor General’s Office in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. J. Sam Brake and Mrs. Emma Brake of Rocky Mount, N.C., the late Mr. S.L. Purvis and Mrs. Lucy Purvis of Winnabow, N.C.

He is a 1997 graduate of Tift County High School in Tifton. He graduated in 2001 from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in history. He received a Juris Doctorate degree at Georgia State University College of Law in 2010. He is employed as an attorney at Breakfeld and Associates LLC., in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed March 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Augusta.
