Stan and Karen Padgett of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Haley Elisa Padgett to Randolph "Randy" Nathaniel Byers, son of Randolph and Teri Byers of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Smith of Thomaston, the late Fred Smith and the late Rass and Martha Padgett.

She is a 2006 graduate of Johnson High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2009 from the Institute of Allied Medical Professions in Atlanta with a diagnostic medical sonography certificate. She is employed as a children's director with Pinecrest Baptist Church in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Sanford and Ruby Fay Byers and the late Paul and Ruby Haynes.

He is a 2006 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. He is pursuing bachelor's degree in biological education from Gainesville State College in Oakwood. He is employed as a lifeguard with the Georgia Mountains YMCA in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed Oct. 9, 2010 at Eagle Ranch's Chapel in the Woods in Flowery Branch.
