Greg and Barbara Mitchell of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Sara Lindsay Mitchell to Thomas William Dyer Jr., son of Zoe Dyer of North Topsail Beach, N.C., and the late Tommy Dyer.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Eugene and Lois Mitchell of Springfield, Ill., Joyce Ramsay of Elmwood, Ill., and the late Thomas Ramsay.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2005 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in biology. She is pursuing her doctorate of dental medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late J.C. and Virginia Payne and the late Selman and Annie Louise Dyer.

He is a 2001 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2005 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in religion. He is pursuing his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta.

The couple plans to wed Dec. 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
