Jesse and Cindy McCubbins of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Jessica Elizabeth McCubbins to Michael Jay Carlson, son of Lisa Lafreniere of Sandpoint, Idaho, and James "Jim" Carlson of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Catherine McCubbins of Statesboro, the late Jesse McCubbins and the late Nathan and Mary Graham.

She is a 2000 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2004 from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She is employed as an associate manager with Coach at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta. She is a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a member of AOPi sorority.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Jack Carlson of Gainesville, the late Doris Carlson and the late James and Shirley Babbitt.

He is a 1998 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. He is self-employed.

The couple plans to wed June 14, 2008, at Bradford House and Gardens in Flowery Branch.
