Ms. Elizabeth L. McCarty, Mr. Alvin B. McCarty Jr. and Mrs. Marcia McCarty of Indianola, Miss., announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Elissa Lear McCarty to Mr. Jackson Edward Oliver, son of Mrs. Bonnie Chessher Oliver Miller and Mr. Andrew O. Miller of Gainesville, and Mr. Michael E. Oliver and Mrs. Kimberly A. Oliver of Fort Smith, Ark.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Lear of Indianola, Miss., and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin B. McCarty Sr. of Sunflower, Miss.

She is a 2002 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Memphis, Tenn. She graduated in 2006 from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure studies. She received a master’s degree at University of Mississippi in health promotion. She received a degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in 2010. She is employed as a chef in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Oliver of Gainesville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Jack Chessher of Buford.

He is a 2003 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2008 from University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in history. He received a Juris Doctorate degree at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. He is employed as an attorney in Atlanta.

The couple plan to wed June 9, 2012, at Oakhurst Plantation in Inverness, Miss.
