Russell and Tammy Layton of Oakwood announce the engagement of their daughter Deborah Diane Layton to Jonathan Daniel Davis, son of Johnny and Teresa Davis of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Hoy and Charlene Layton of Gainesville, Deborah Russell of Goose Creek, S.C., and Joseph Southers of Lula.

She is a 2003 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2007 from Lanier Technical College in Oakwood with a degree in medical assisting. She is employed as an executive assistant at Lakeshore Surgical Center in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late William and Mildred Thomas and the late John and Bonnie Davis.

He is a 1999 graduate of East Hall High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2003 from Georgia Aviation Technical College in Eastman with a degree in design and development. He is employed as an assistant team leader at Toyota Automotive Compressor Georgia in Pendergrass. The couple plan to wed Sept. 26, 2009, at Walters Farm in Lula.
