Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Joseph Conway Lane of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Laura Jacquelyn Lane to Mr. Jesse Travis Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Russell Carter of Somerset, Ky.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Larry Pardue Sr. of Gainesville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Herbert Lane Sr.

She is a 2008 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2012 from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She is employed as the financial administrator at Veugeler Design Group in Buford.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Sylvia Reynolds Brown of Eubank, Ky., and the late Mr. Jonas W. Brown, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Madison Carter.

He is a 2006 graduate of Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Ky. He graduated in 2010 from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He is currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., where he serves as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

The couple plan to wed March 28, 2015, at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville.
