Deborah and Rudolf Krause of Statham announce the engagement of their daughter Valere René to Kenneth Shane Lancaster, son of Donald Lancaster of Flowery Branch and the late Barbara Hatcher.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Geraldine Bowden of Statham and the late Jack R. Bowden and Robert and Linda Krause of Augusta.

She is a 1999 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School in Winder. She graduated in 2004 from North Georgia College & State University with a bachelor’s degree in middle school education. She plans to complete a master’s degree from NGCSU this year. She is employed as a teacher at C.W. Davis Middle School in Flowery Branch. She also coaches Flowery Branch High School’s softball and swim teams, is a member of the Gold Award Committee for the Northeast Georgia Girl Scout Council and is a Red Cross CPR and lifeguard instructor.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Ruth Blackwell of Cumming and the late Jim Blackwell and Grace Lancaster of Flowery Branch and the late Floyd Lancaster.

He is a 1995 graduate of West Hall High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 1999 from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in science education. He received a master’s degree at UGA in 2001. He is employed as an economics teacher at Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch. He is a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and coaches the Flowery Branch High School wrestling team.

The couple plans to wed April 26, 2008, at The Georgia Club in Statham.
