Betty and Gabriel Uriegas of Flowery Branch and Tom Hughes of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Betsy Deanina Hughes to Raymond Joseph Grunch, son of Russell and Jeanie Grunch of Pearl City, Hawaii.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Aaron and Martha Moore of Lula.

She is a 1998 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2002 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in biology/premed. She received her doctorate of medicine degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 2007. She is employed as a resident physician in neurosurgery at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.

The groom-elect is employed as vice president of operations with Blackman Detective Services in Raleigh, N.C.

The couple plan to wed November 19, 2011, in Braselton.
