Mark and Eugenia Ham of Atlanta announce the engagement of their daughter Jennifer Lea Ham to Scott Derrick Givens, son of David and Caprice Givens of Antioch, Tenn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nadine Ham of Gainesville, James and Gloria Langford of Athens and the late Mark M. Ham III.

She is a 1999 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2004 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in English. She received a master's degree in English education at Piedmont College in Demorest and is pursuing an educational specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Ducktown, Tenn. She is employed as an English teacher with Gainesville High School in Gainesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Sarah Murray of Smyrna, Tenn., Donald and June Helton of Florence. Ala., the late Doris Givens and the late M.C. Murray.

He is a 1994 graduate of Antioch High School in Antioch, Tenn. He graduated in 2000 from Tennessee Technical University in Cookeville, Tenn., with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. He is pursuing a master's degree from National University. He is employed as a health and physical eduction teacher at Gainesville High School in Gainesville.

The couple plan to wed July 11, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
