Mr. and Mrs. Archibald A. Farrar Jr. of Summerville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Challis Elizabeth Farrar to Mr. Andrew Derrick Latta, son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg W. Latta of Trion.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Archibald A. Farrar of Summerville and the late Mr. Archibald A. Farrar, Mrs. Robert H. Wilks of Birmingham, Ala., and the late Mr. Robert H. Wilks.

She is a 2001 graduate of Trion High School in Trion. She graduated in 2005 from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. She received a doctorate of jurisprudence from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon in 2008. She will begin work with the law firm of Forrester & Brim in Gainesville this October. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Latta of Summerville and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Estus of Trion.

He is a 2001 graduate of Trion High School in Trion. He graduated in 2005 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor's degree in forest resources. He is employed as general manager with Care Medical in Gainesville. He is a member of the Gainesville Jaycees.

The couple plans to wed Sept. 20, 2008, at Summerville First Baptist Church in Summerville.
