DaAnne Blanchard Watson of Gainesville and James William Cobb of Colquitt announce the engagement of their daughter Anne Elizabeth Cobb to Anthony Richard Durel, son of James Louis and Belva Farmer Durel of Auburn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Alva Drane "Miss Daisy" Watson of Gainesville and the late Alva Drane "Coach" Watson Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Cobb.

She is a 1990 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 1994 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She received a master’s degree at The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York in journalism. She is employed as a reporter with the Atlanta-Journal Constitution in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Margie Durel of Newcastle, Calif., the late Jack Durel, the late Theresa May and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Farmer.

He is a 1988 graduate of Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Ill. He served seven years, rising to the rank of captain, with the U.S. Army. He graduated in 1996 from the University of Georgia in Athens with a bachelor’s degree in environmental health. He is employed as a strategic project leader with General Electric Consumer Finance in Stavanger, Norway.

The couple plans to wed Feb. 16, at First United Methodist Chapel in Gainesville.
